"The Orange" diamond to be sold at auction

The Orange, the largest fancy vivid orange diamond ever offered at auction will be the star lot at Christie’s Geneva auction of Magnificent Jewels. The 14.82-carat diamond has a pre-sale estimate of $17 million.

Among the very few fancy vivid orange diamonds that have ever been sold at auction, the largest was below 6 carats.
Pure orange diamonds are exceptionally rare in nature.

It is more common to find orange diamonds with secondary colors. The orange color is the result of the presence of nitrogen during the diamond’s creation.
