'I ain't no rat' James "Whitey" Bulger refuses to save innocent man from jail

He became infamous around the world as head of Boston's Winter Hill gang from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Earlier this year James "Whitey" Bulger slammed biopic Black Mass – starring Johnny Depp – from his cell after the film was released telling the story of his life.

He is serving a life sentence for his role in 11 murders, drug trafficking and other crimes. Last month Deborah Chin wrote to Bulger in a bid to try and help Frederick Weichel. Chin wanted Bulger's account of a murder in the 1980s which put Weichel behind bars for more than half his life.

Bulger, 87, wrote back, saying: "I have never testified against any man, have never caused any man to be put in prison."
